Bengaluru tech hub flooded as heavy rain lashes India’s Silicon Valley

Bengaluru is battling heavy rainfall, which has caused significant flooding across several areas. Several office spaces, including Manyata Tech Park, also got flooded due to the incessant downpour. Many offices in the massive tech villages instructed their employees to stay inside and wait for the waterlogged roads, both inside and outside, to clear. A series of concerning visuals that show flooded buildings have surfaced on social media.
The first video shows a flooded area with cars stuck on the road. What is shocking is the cascade of water flowing down from a wall, giving it the appearance of a waterfall. The video features a property adjacent to Manyata Tech Park, developer Embassy REIT said.
“Through the development of a new culvert, a critical flood mitigation measure to manage the water flow, along with annual desilting and raising the nallah embankment, strategic positioning of external stormwater sumps, and the deployment of high-capacity dewatering systems that cleared road floodwaters within 2-4 hours, our on-ground teams ensured business continuity,” Embassy REIT said in a statement.
The other video also shows a similar scenery of the flooded area. It further captures cars trying to wade through the flooded streets.
Continuous rains since the early hours of Tuesday have caused flood-like situations in different parts of Bengaluru. Visuals of flooded Geddalahalli Railway Underbridge and the RGA Tech Park junction have also surfaced online.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that Bengaluru would likely experience a rainy week ahead. Between October 14 and 17, the IMD predicted moderate to heavy rains.
